How to Know If You’re Ready to Hire an Interior Designer
If you’ve ever found yourself knee-deep in Pinterest, saving everything from modern organic kitchens to moody powder bath and still feeling unsure how to actually bring it all together; this might be your sign.
Hiring an interior designer isn’t just about making your home “look pretty.” It’s about creating a space that functions beautifully, feels cohesive, and supports the way you actually live.
So how do you know when you’re really ready?
Let’s break it down:
My Must-Have Skin Essentials
This last fall and winter, my skin was abnormally more dry that it usually is. I usually have a drastic skin change around fall because of the weather change, but then is mellows out and goes back to normal. This year was particularly strange because my skin never stopped being dry, but winter wasn’t even very cold this year. The heaters weren’t on as much and I wasn’t spending hours outside in the snow (because there wasn’t any…). I was forced to look around beyond my usual skincare products and find new items that would work better for me. Today’s post will be a round up of all my favorite products that worked for me not just in skin, but make-up and hair as well.
Spring Wardrobe Refresh
Spring is the season that I probably spend the most on new clothes, shoes and accessories. After the first or second road trip, I start assessing my wardrobe and what new pieces I need for the upcoming travel season, (last year, I shopped hard for spring/summer dresses and skirts). My first trip this year highlighted my need for new sneakers, activewear and swimwear. So without further ado, here are my top picks that I’m currently shopping:
My Philosophy on Art
Yesterday, I was tasked with helping a client choose some art for a blank wall. This particular wall was sandwiched between an entire wall of windows and a focal wall with a diptych already hung perfectly above the sofa. In my email response back, I took the client with me on a long walk through my thought process of what wouldn’t work and why, and finally settled on something that I think checked all the boxes. What is interesting to me is that all of those thoughts on what the options were and why I wouldn’t choose them is so obvious to me, because I make decisions like that everyday. My clients don’t always understand why I suggest what I do, because they aren’t in my head, they don’t have the experience that I have, so today I thought it would be fun to share my philosophy on art and why I think that way.
What I’m Shopping For: Spring Décor
The weather has been pretty great this winter, but last week just turned a corner. The sun was up longer, the air was warmer, and yesterday I just put out chairs on my front porch! Spring is a great time to refresh all aspects of your life, including your home décor. Here are some products that I’m eyeing for my own house.

The 3 Kitchen Trends You’re About To See Everywhere
I recently came back from the 2026 KBIS exhibition; a kitchen and bath show from and for industry leaders. Here are the top three trends that you’re about see on repeat.
Hello From KBIS!
Today I’m writing from Orlando Florida! I’m here for KBIS (the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show). While I’m away for the week, I am soaking in the inspiration and product knowledge.
Everything I’m Packing for KBIS 2026
Never have I ever been to KBIS (Kitchen and Bath Industry Show), but this year, that will change! The show is located in Orlando this year, and it will be a nice change of scenery for me this wintery February.
I can be a little bit of an over packer, but I always feel like I will need something if I don’t pack it, so I try to be really intentional about what I’m going to wear, how I’m going to do my hair everyday, and what can I reuse so I can save space in my suitcase.
Designing for Holidays: Valentine’s Day Edition
I love seeing other people’s houses decorated for holidays, but some holidays are bigger lifts than others (i.e.. Halloween, Christmas). Thankfully, Valentine’s Day is one of those holidays you can decorate for without going full tilt. While I do love attending a highly themed dinner or Galantine's party (now accepting invitations…), it can be very easy to go too kitschy with your décor, and I’m just not feeling that this year. Instead, here are my picks and inspiration boards for a classic, tasteful holiday.
The 70’s Are Back, Baby!
What is the first thing you think of when I say 70’s interior design style? Maybe it’s shag carpeting, maybe it’s wood wall paneling, or maybe you think of psychedelic colors. For better or for worse, that is exactly what’s coming back in style. Read on to see how I would incorporate this trend today (2026, not 1976).
Move Over, Painted Cabinets
Wood is making a comeback. Whether it’s rustic or smooth, light toned or dark, I’m seeing wood on floors, ceilings, walls, furniture, accessories, beams, cabinets….
Is It “Grandma Chic” or “Grandma Core?”
We’ve seen iterations of it in interior design like Cottage Core, but “Grandma Core” encompasses more than just interiors. It’s the slow living, baked goods and handmade gifts. Don’t get me wrong, I’m currently working on a cross stich pattern my grandma left behind (probably purchased in the 1970’s or 80’s…), but for this blog’s purpose, I’m going with “Grandma Chic.”
Textured and 3D Wall Art
I’ve always believed that one of the best ways to add depth to any space is through texture. You could have a totally monochromatic room but with the addition of different textures, that space could feel more interesting and grounded, verses boring and flat. In 2026, textures will now be showing up on walls. Here’s how to achieve this look for yourself:
What is Color Capping?
For color capping, think color drenching, but with a different color on the crown and ceiling. This is usually within the same color family just a shade or two darker, but it could also be a contrasting color, if you are feeling a little bold.
Top 5 Interior Design Trends for 2026
As an interior designer, it’s my job to stay up to date on the newest trends in home décor, colors and styles, but every year, I feel like there are so many new niche trends! Some are really cool and interesting and innovative, some are subtle shifts in what was already happening, some are driven by technology or the latest Tik-Tok trend. As a very opinionated person, I can tell almost immediately if there is a trend I don’t like or a style that I love, but would never design myself. So my list of the top 5 trends for this year are my picks of what I actually like, and could see incorporating into my designs for my clients. Let’s dive in:
