Services Spotlight: Virtual Interior Design
Want a designer’s eye without hiring a full-service interior designer? My virtual interior design services might be exactly what you’re looking for.
You know what you like. You’ve saved approximately 4,827 Pinterest images. You have a pretty good idea of the direction you want to go, but when it comes to actually pulling everything together, you’re stuck.
What color should the walls be? What size rug do you need? Does that sofa actually work in the space? Which finishes should you choose? And, perhaps most importantly, how do you make everything look cohesive instead of like a collection of things you liked individually?
That’s where virtual interior design comes in.
What Is Virtual Interior Design?
Virtual interior design, sometimes called e-design or online interior design, gives you access to professional interior design guidance without needing an in-person designer in your home.
You provide me with the details about your space, including measurements, photos, inspiration and what you’re hoping to accomplish, and I create a personalized design plan that you can implement on your own. (Think of it as having a designer in your back pocket, but without me physically showing up at your front door.)
My goal is to make the design process feel approachable, clear and actually doable. You’ll have a plan to follow, products to shop for and a direction for your space instead of continuing to second-guess every decision.
What Can You Get With Virtual Interior Design?
The exact scope of your virtual design project will depend on what you need, but the goal is always the same: to give you a cohesive design that works for your home and your real life.
Virtual design can be a great option for helping with things like furniture selections, room layouts, paint colors, lighting, rugs, window treatments, finishes, styling and pulling an entire room together. Rather than wondering if everything will work once it arrives, you’ll have a plan to reference before you start purchasing. Because we’re working virtually, you can move through the project at your own pace and implement the design in phases as your budget allows.
How Does Online Interior Design Work?
The virtual interior design process starts with you sharing your space and your goals with me. I’ll want to know what isn’t working, what you love, what you’re hoping to change and how you actually use the room. I’ll also need measurements, photos and any inspiration images that help me understand your style. From there, I take all of those pieces and turn them into a cohesive design direction.
The biggest benefit of working with a designer virtually is that you still get the professional design perspective without needing a traditional full-service design process. You can shop the selections, coordinate the updates and bring the design to life on your own schedule.
Who Is Virtual Interior Design For?
Virtual design is a great fit if you want professional design help but don’t necessarily need someone managing every detail of your project like delivery and installation, or if you want to take things slow to manage your budget. It’s especially helpful if you are furnishing a new home, refreshing a room, struggling with a layout or simply need help making all of your ideas work together. Keep in mind that some designs may include construction recommendations to be done by yourself or a professional, depending on how much you want to add to your space.
It’s also a great option if you’re not local to Salt Lake City but still want to work with me.
Maybe you’ve already purchased a few pieces and don’t know what to add next. Maybe you’re starting completely from scratch. Or maybe you’ve been staring at the same room for six months because you have no idea where to start. Virtual interior design can give you the direction you need to finally move forward.
Why Hire a Virtual Interior Designer?
There are endless places to find furniture, lighting, rugs and decor online. The problem isn’t necessarily finding options, it’s knowing which options are actually right for your space. That’s where having a designer’s perspective can make a huge difference.
I’m looking at the room as a whole rather than choosing individual pieces in a vacuum. I’m thinking about scale, proportion, color, texture, function and how everything will work together. And just as importantly, I’m thinking about how you actually live.
A room can look beautiful in a photo, but if the sofa is impossible to keep clean, the coffee table is too small or there’s nowhere to hide the things you use every day, it isn’t a successful design. You’ll get my full experience as an interior designer without my hourly fee or any in-person visits.
Virtual Design Without the Guesswork
One of my favorite things about virtual design is that it gives you a clear plan. Instead of spending hours searching for the “perfect” piece, saving dozens of options and still not knowing what to buy, you can have a curated direction to follow. You can make decisions with more confidence, avoid expensive mistakes and create a home that feels intentional and personal, and you get to do it from wherever you are.
Is Virtual Interior Design Right For You?
If you’re looking for a little (or a lot!) of design direction but aren’t ready for full-service interior design, virtual design could be the perfect fit. You don’t need to have everything figured out before we start. That’s part of what I’m here for!
Whether you’re working on one room, furnishing an entire home or simply need help figuring out what comes next, I can help you create a space that feels like you.
